So, since I've gotten back from New York, I've kind of failed at updating. SO!

As me questions, any sort of questions! I will answer anything you want to know, be it personal, writing related or anything else

Leave me prompts! They can be original verses or fandom or anything else you'd like to throw at me.

Fandoms: White Collar, Newsflesh trilogy, October Daye series, MCU, Slings & Arrows, Chess, Dead Like Me, Firefly, Sanctuary, Sherlock
whatawaytoburn: ([Writing] Start writing and keep writin)
Ask me anything about my writing! Stories I've written, plans I have, writing methods, etc.

I don't know. I blame Lynn for doing it and getting me in the mood to babble a little about writng.

So, I'm starting the 30 Days Of Your (Current) Project meme because I've been meaning to and I figure why not?

So let's start off with day one, shall we?

What's the project's name? How did you pick it?

And The Devil Makes Three. It was chosen because, when I first started the project, I thought it was going to be focused around a smaller cast, two of which were angels and one of which was a criminal on the side. It seemed appropriate.

Then the cast grew and grew and the focus shifted to a more ensemble type thing and now I'm not usre if I would keep the name but I really do like it for the verse all the same, so I probably will.

Ask me about stories.

Ask me about my theme,s about the things I love, about why I write, about how I write, about when I write, about what I want to write but haven't yet.

Ask me about my verses. Ask me about how they work, what myths and legends are there, how do I worldbuild, what do I outline in each verse, what do I wish i was better at, what am I most interested in?

Just ask me questions and, if you want to know about what I am working on, let me know, as none of the things that are currently on my docket have been listed around here besides THe Devil Mkaes THree and A Bargain Must Be Made.
whatawaytoburn: ([SHerlockj] All the work)
First off, my link from yesterday is fixed. Go poke and help Silver out, if you can. Thank you, thank you.

Second, it's been a while since I did this but here, have a writi8ng meme (or rather, a few of them).

Stolen from [personal profile] thelinesoflearning

A. Comment with two characters (and optionally a prompt word), and I'll tell you about their first kiss in a drabble.

B. Everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.
Give me a name and I will tell you what that person is afraid of, loves, and has lost.

C. Give me the title of a story I've never written and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

Fandoms: Cabin Pressure, Sherlock (BBC), Sanctuary (All but S4), Newsflesh (No Blackout spoilers), October Daye series, White Collar, Slings & Arrows, Dead Like Me,
Also, anyone off of my cast list or any of my original verses and if there's something that I'm not listing that you know if, that's up for poking too.

So, I've been in a writing mood lately which is not a bad thing. I've written something two nights in a row, which has not been happening as of late but I am hoping I can keep up. If not actually writing than perhaps working on something writing related. I don't know. I am going to see.

Anyway, I was wondering what sorts of programs and thins people use to help them along. I know Scrivener is popular but I can never wrap my head around it. I use PageFour myself and WriterMonkey. I know there are other programs and such out there too, plus things like Write Or Die and Written Kitten!

So yes, do you use any of those things? What things besides programs do you use? Do you have a timer that you break out every now and then? Do you have a special place you have to write in or can you write anywhere? What about reference books? What are your favorites to use?

Tell me about the things you use to hep you write! I'm curious and sleep deprived and think this could be fun to listen to. Plus you might be able to give someone else a bit of help.

Also, while I am thinking about it, talk about worldbuilding? Babble to me about how you attack worldbuilding and what resources you have on the subject. If there's any good things out there, especially for urban fantasy settings, let me know. This is in part for a friend of mine but I could use the information as well..

I was thinking you should tell me about stories you think I should write. I mean, if you could sit me down for a day or whatever and say, "I want you to write this story for me," what would that story be?

I'm not actually promising to *write* any of these, mind you, but it's fun anyway. And who knows if I'll be inspired!
whatawaytoburn: ([Writing] At work)
Ask me about my original verses. Ask me questions about the world, the people who live there, mechanics, themes, anything you want.

So, the Fandom Snowflake and [personal profile] petra in particular got me thinking. I kind of want to do a meme that is looking for readers for original fiction.

A fair few of us write it, either posting to journals with membership or keeping it to ourselves but having readers would be wonderful and probably a help to us. I was thinking that I could maybe lure all of you out of the woodwork to come here, post who you are and a little bit about your works and then we could all share and friend each other and make it a big circle of helpfulness!

So! If you're interested, leave a comment below! with:

Your name:
What genres you write:
What genres you read:
Contact info:
What works you're looking to have read:
If you'd be willing to read over the commenters work:
Whether you would beta or not:
Anything else you can think of that I have yet to mention:

Remember, this isn't looking for betas so much as it is looking for an audience, though if you happen to find betas, that's awesome too! I just thought it might be nice to have people reading what you write!

Note: Okay, so several people are rather twitchy about fandom things being connected too the original writing. I get this,, it makes sense. SO what I was thinking that this can be a post to determine if there is enough interest to start up a reading/critique/commenting group that would be A) private and B) be partly a soc ial thing and have people get to know each other before thye start posting the stuff they want to show off and such.

I don't know, I'm still working out the ideas in my head. You get the theme of this post though, linking people with other people and original fiction.
whatawaytoburn: ([Writing] Desert and Stone 2)
1. Pick one or more of my characters from the four novels I am working on this month: my NaNo, my Ni90, my first backup and my second backup.
2. Pick one (or as many as you'd like) number(s) from between 1 and 382.
3. I'll answer the corresponding question from this questionnaire. or get a ficlet from 1000 Awesome Things
whatawaytoburn: ([Angels] Angels angels everywhere)

- YOU: comment to this post with a TV show concept. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...) Be as detailed as you like.
- I: will create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them, and add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that I like.
whatawaytoburn: ([WC] On the couch)
Comment with two characters I write and a prompt word, and I'll tell you about their first kiss in a drabble.
whatawaytoburn: ([Angels] On the ground)
Name your pairing/group and/or your kink. I'll see what I can do./i>

It will probably only be a few sentences while i try and get my writingbrain back but we will see.
whatawaytoburn: ([Misc] In the night)
So, in an unexpected turn of events, I am going to California tomorrow!

What this means is that I need entertainment for the plane ride and the three hours in between flights! So leave me prompts! All the prompts! Any prompt you can think of,, whether it's a set of ten words for sentence prompts or song prompts or anything really! I will take anything you can throw at me.

I will also gleefully take fic recs (either podfic ro regular fic) and uhm....Generally entertaining things? :D

Fandoms are as follows: Chess, Criminal Minds Dead Like Me, Doctor Who, Dresden Files, Eastwick, Feeling Electric, Firefly, Good Omens, In Plain Sight, Life on Mars, Sanctuary, Sherlock, Slings and Arrows, Sports Night, White Collar

I will admit that right now, I have a HUGE bias towards White Collar, Sherlock and Sanctuary and, if you can find Eastwick stuff, you will be my favorite person in the WORLD but I will take prompts or fic for anything listed.
whatawaytoburn: ([Drinks] Absinthe/Sangria)
1) Give me ten one-word prompts for a fandom/character/pairing of your choice. 2) I'll write one/two sentences for each of those prompts.

I reserve the right to make it more than a few sentences but considering hwo poor my brain is, a few sentences is probably what you'll get.

Fandoms: (for people who don't know them): Bare: A Pop Opera, Chess, Criminal Minds, Dead Like Me, Doctor Who, Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dresden Files (books and TV), Eastwick, Feeling Electric, Firefly, In Plain Sight, Last Five Years, Rent, Sanctuary, Slings and Arrows, Sports Night, White Collar. Original verses are up for grabs too.
whatawaytoburn: ([ASW] Immortal soul)
Give me a title (and pairing if you'd like) and I'll give you the summary of the story to go with it.

And now I am going to go to bed before the sun gets all the way up. Sleep should have happened an hour ago but whatever. >>

Still sick though I'm not dying quite so much anymore. It's kind of nice to be able to go five minutes without coughing, though the cough meds that are seeing me through this whole thing are just terrible. I'm thinking by Saturday I might be a real person again, though I'm not entirely certain.
I'm finally at i>Changes in my Dresden read-through. It only took me about a year to get through them all! Granted, I did a huge chunk of listening from January of this year onwards but I started my reading in May of last year so. *shrug* I'm really in the mood to acquire American Gods but I'm trying not to do that until I finish Changes. We'll see if I manage.

I'm sensing a general Gaiman read-through after Dresden, not that I really need to read Fragile Things again but whatever.

There are also writingthings that need to get worked on really soon. I may wind up taking a hiatus from RP for a while after i get my brain together and focus mainly on writing for a bit and see if that helps. I'm not sure though.. We'll see if I can balance both. I know right now I don't have much of a shot at either unless I go reeeally slowly.

And to wrap up th8is post, have a meme.

Ask me a question about one of my stories or my approach to writing in general. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back. Anything. Whatever you ask, I will try my best to answer.
whatawaytoburn: ([Writing] At work)
I am amythorthree (I don't know how to do the fancy AO3 linking that everyone else is doing so a plain old link will due for now). Fandoms in the queue include Slings And Arrows, White Collar and Doctor Who (with one Doctor Who/Firefly crossover). There will definitely be more uploaded as stuff gets written, though I can't promise that it'll have much variation outside of White Collar right now. My brain is kind of one-tracked.
whatawaytoburn: ([Misc] And dreamers too)
I want to talk about stires but I'm not really sure I want to say, so I'm looking at you f/rlist! Ask me questions about stories, ask me about plots, ask me about ideas, ask me about how I feel about this that or the other, just ask me something about stories and I'll do a babble on it, either in the comments or possibly in another post.
