whatawaytoburn: ([Words] Make it though the year)
Be brave.

That is what I want for the new year, for you and for me. I want bravery, I want daring, I want living and being and existing dangerously. I want to challenge the world in a thousand tiny ways and I want o go through with those challenges, even if I lose.

I want to read books that make me think and I want to read ones that make me laugh. I want to read books that teach me things and I want to write books.

Oh, how I want to write books.

And I want to see my friends succeed in small ways, so they know they can get win in their bigger endeavors. Remember, every small victory is one to celebrate.

I want to dance in the rain, because you are never too old to do such a thing and I want to spend time with the ones I love. I want to meet new people and wrap them up in my wings, show the what it's like to fly. I want to see the people who are dear to me and I want to spend time with those new people as well.

I want to travel.

I want you to do these things too. I want you to fly and stumble and make new friends and make new loves. I want you to write if you feel like writing, draw if you feel like drawing, create if you feel like creating.

I want you to wrap your arms around the world, hold it close and remember that it is not as frightening as it may seem.

And I want you to be a little bit wicked and I want you to be a little bit wise but most of all, I want you to be willing.

Willing to explore, entertain dance, sing, move, smile, create, spin, dream.

I want that for all of us.

And that is what I want for the New Year.

So, I think I am feeling marginally less antisocial. Things aren't great and I'm still painfully low energy b8ut I think I need people right now, I think, I need to curl up with you all, to be around you.

I've been missing the ppeople i care about lately, all of them, and even my friends, my aquaintances, I feel like i should get to know better.

So, I don't know, I guess I'm saying hi to you al again. Hi and welcome and it's a pleausre to see you, be around you, know you are there.

Thank you, I appreciate it, I really do.

Happy holidays to one and aol, I offer good thoughts, sweet dreams, and hopes for the future.

SO, the month of December is coming and that means giving (and getting) gifts.

I want to give you guys something.

So tell me what you want. Tell me if you want a reading or a story or a post card or even a drawing. I'll make it for you, and I'll try and get it out by the end of December.

If you would like to request anonymously, then please do so, I will be happy to fill anon comments. Just leave me something and I will create/do it for you. I want to give back this season, I really do and I hope that by doing this, I can spread a little cheer.

# Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big. The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Wishlist meme time! If you've got a list up already, please, please, please link me! I want to try and get everyone's lists gathered up so I can start getting stuff together.

Let's do today in list form, shall we?

1) Happy Halloween! Obviously we are in the tail end of an awesome holiday and my sleep deprived brain forgot to wish everyone good times, so yes,

2) Happy NaNoing! One holiday ends and another begins and yes, I totally consider NaNo a holiday. I think I'm actually going to be able to start mine on midnight because I got a few hours of sleep in the middle of the day and I've been working on how I'm going to start writing, so that's kind of pleasing. Plus we have chocolate and coffee. Mmm, chocolate and coffee.

3) I'm getting a contract! Sangria is awesome and took care of things for me but I got a contract! She's going to write it up in the next two weeks and then we'll be in business. I'm....now getting kind of scared and the whole thing is making me have Thoughts on money and how much I dislike it but it's nothing that's really worth typing up.

4) Walking Dead in an hour! I'm stoked for this since I've been binging on zombie movies for the past month or so and I could use something good. I'm really hoping I won't be disappointed but I'm preparing for it just in case.

5) The new Abney Park album makes me want to dance. I need to make room for it on River so I can listen to it in full (I'm listening in bits and pieces and I'll be able to take a more thorough listen when I'm riding to therapy tomorrow

Happy holidays! Whether it's Christmas or the day or whatever else you'd like to be wished.

Frantically getting ready has already started around here. Food is baking, people are running in and out trying to get things and I am...Well, poking the internet. Granted this is only until my mother gets back with strawberries and alcohol so I can start the last two deserts I need to make but eh.

Going back to the apartment later because I left my Christmas gifts and then around 7:30 we go to my aunts for the proper celebrating. Then tomorrow I'm off with that side of the family to spend the day with Chris' mother and then Saturday I go home again.

Mmm, I think it's actually starting to feel like the season. Neat.

Going to Sofu's for Christmas, back on Saturday.

Either this is going to be good for my mental state (baking, gifts, showers) or I'm going to curl up in a ball and not move (Sofu, ....Sofu).

I did write last night though! Granted it was a silly fluffy shortthing but there was writing! Plus I'm considering hopping in on Yuletide Madness since there were one or two things I spied that I could do. I don't know though, we'll see. I'm gonna try and write SOMETHING else tonight, if only so maybe i can start up the habit of writing every day again.

And if not? I wll take comfort in brownies.

Speaking of which, the things I am going to be making in the next twenty four hours:
Boom Booms
Rum Balls
Amaretto cake
Peppermint bark (Hopefully made less truamatic with the subtraction of Brooke and her slave labour ways).

RIght, going to down coffee and then start getting ready to go. Yay for updates?

So, I have survived the fourth of July with no damage and gotten to see my fair share of pretty things that go boom. I have gotten hats, socks and will be acquiring a comfortable chairthing before the end of the month. My mother is being bizarrely nice to me. My girlfriend is coming tomorrow and not leaving until Wednesday. I will be seeing Rent on Tuesday. I will not be living in this house this time next month and I am going to start steadily writing again.

You know what guys? My life is pretty fucking good right now.

Mothers Day went surprisingly well, or rather, my mother my mother didn't go batshit for any reason.

I, on the other hand, remember why I do not go out very often this time of year. I haven't been able to shake the feeling that I'm going to be completely ill for....I don't even know how long.

Granted, I'm sure it's not helping that I've been sick all weekend but still. This? Can stop any time it bloody well likes to. I am over it.

I might see if showering will help. Don't ask me HOW but showers cure everything, damnit.

So, I have a newnew layout thanks to the every-wonderful Sey. It pleases me way, WAY too much and just...Yes. It's pretty and lovely and I adore her for it. I think the only way it could be better is if it were Master/Oscar. XD

[livejournal.com profile] theformofstars GO. Look at it.

Classes have been okay. I've continued to dislike theater but thorougly enjoy my psych classes and think that comp is a waste of time.

So, what am I thankful for?

It's the question that comes up every year, whether someone asks you at the grocery, or you see it on your flist, or your family asks you when you're all going around the table

What. Am. I. Thankful. For.

I'm thankful for being here, for knowing the people I know and loving each of them (whether they love me in return or not). I'm thankful that I can say I'm alive and trying to be healthy. I'm thankful for beautiful things like the trees in my front yard and my lovely cats. I'm thankful for books and pens and notebooks filled with pages of nothing.

I'm thankful for writing, because I'd not be anywhere without it.

I'm thankful for music and friendship and hot chocolate. I'm thankful for caffeine and stories that are read aloud at all sorts of hours. I'm thankful that my family loves me and is willing to compromise, even when they don't want me to do certain things.

I'm thankful for having the drive to try and leave my own house.

I'm thankful for the shade of green on my alls and naps and Lord Henry waking me up in the morning. I'm thankful for cracky ringtones and cracky minds that are probably a bit too similar. I'm thankful for doing things in epic proportions and I'm thankful that I have people to share things with.

I'm thankful that I'm not alone. I'm so, so thankful for that.

There are so many things that I'm thankful for, each person I've met this year, each person I've managed to keep this long. The way the sun shines on one spot on my floor where the cats like to lay, the sound of rain, my CCTV, sleep and the smell of a lit clove cigarette. Pomegranates and wine, singing when no one can hear you, singing when only one particular person can hear you, plotting until you can't plot anymore and then wondering jut how in hell you got there.

And I'm thankful for simply being alive, because if I wasn't I wouldn't have any of the other wonderful things or people in my life.

STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My ist, let me show you it )

Also! If you have a list like this one and I've not seen it, just drop it off in the comments, I'd love to see if I might be able to give you something

...You know, I wish I were a better person at sending out letters/cards/things like that. I'd really love to do it but I know I'd probably start<I. and just...never get fiished. Oh well, maybe I'll try and make that a goal next year.

Writing proper for the day is done, woosh! I ant to type up some more verse notes and shove them in there but I can do that when I feel a little more functional.

Halloween was veeeery good and when San puts up pictures from the evening, there will definitely be links!

I need to go and try and read everyones Nanos so far but first I think I will aquire food and do tags. Yes, I think this is practical and a generally good idea.
whatawaytoburn: (Dr Horrible: Legendary)
It has been a very successful Halloween.

I've recaptured my youth, sexually harassed Jesus, had a good dose of Paul McGann and stayed up til 8 AM.

Now there will be crashing and when I get up? I will writewritewrite!
