I also feel like this should possibly be cut for potential triggers but I'm really not sure what those triggers are at the moment, so I'll just do it and come back to this post later with proper warnings.
“What did you do?”
Her eyes are glazed over and her hands bloody. Somewhere in the distance, she hears the sound of a child crying but it barely registers. “I did what I had to do.”
He drops to his knees in front of her, taking her hands in his. “Hon, look at me.” His voice is pleading with her, begging for her to raise her head, to stop tracing the lines of her palm. “Look at me, Lynne, please?”
She raises her head, studies hima nd tilts her head. “Hm?'
“What did you do?”
“I called the angels.” She smiles and it's small and soft. “I called them here so I can get what I need.”
“What?” His heart is racing, his pupils dilated with fear and concern for her, for what she could have done.
“I called the anges,” she says again. “I did what I had to do.”
For a brief moment, he looks up, studies the room around him then shakes his head. “Lynne, you hurt yourself. You could have hurt the baby. What the hell are you even talking about?”
She can hear anger fighting with worry in his tone but she doesn't care. She's aolready done what she needs to do and he can't take it back now, the angels won'r let him.
“We should go,” she half sing-songs, looking over her shoulder at the nwindow and the night sky beyond it. “They won't come if we're in the room.”
He hesitates and for a moemnt she thinks he's go9ing to fight her but he doesn't. Instead he gets ot his feet, hauling her up af3er him and hoding her by the wrist, pulls her out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
“We're going to get you cleaned up,” okay, he says with a forced calm in his tone. “Then we're going to take you to the hospital. You can't stay here right now, Lynne. I'm sorry.”
She just smiles and nods, not really caring what he has to say. She's too busy listening for the sound of wings and the silence that will come after.
