[Signal Boost] Come help and get what you need.

Lots of people need lots of things. Sometimes it’s just someone to listen to them, sometimes it’s a bet reader. Sometimes it’s a job or cash or someone to go practice tarot readings.

This is a post to help people find what they need.

Leave a comment with what you need and then look through the others and see if you can’t help. Even if you just need friends to talk to, that’s fine, say something. You might just find what you’re looking for.

Okey dokey.

I could use friends and/or a support net in the Phoenix valley area, if anyone knows cool, friendly people there. Especially artists?

Hi! I'm probably in the general area, but it's kind of hard to explain. Still happy to try.

I write, bead, play with dolls and do bizarre things for no apparent reason. I know a lot of the beaders on my end of town, plus a gallery owner, so if someone with a morbid sense of humor who talks like an affected British woman isn't what you had in mind, there's still a good chance I can find you somebody.

I need someone to reassure me and tell me that everything's going to be okay, that I can make money even working as little as my brain requires me to, and that I can keep up working from home and going to school and everything will be okay.

I also maybe need someone or several someones to give me money in exchange for things-- I knit, write, make fanmixes, edit things, and do Tarot readings-- but that's only if you feel yourself in burning need of things like that.

Popping in to say that I find good results in selling fingerless gloves I've knit, or cowls, or dishcloths. Basically things that are small enough to sell for about $15-20. So don't be shy - your friends will be happy to buy stuff you've made knowing it'll help you out and they'll get something nice and useful and warm in return. Rah, rah! :-)

I can't promise that everything will be okay. But if you keep doing things, you will generally be better off than if you had not done things. Sometimes creative projects are amazingly successful. Also, I find your writing to be entertaining.

Last time I asked for stories as pinch hits for the seven stories I'd won in auctions and never got. I want to say that so far I've gotten four stories!! They've all been awesome and it's really nice to have a positive ratio of stories gifted to me. I'm glad you made this post before and that I took the chance and asked for something I wanted.

I really need someone to look over a 5,000 word original story I wrote (romance between two hockey players) that has to be submitted to an anthology within the next day or two. No hockey knowledge is required but I really need someone to look it over and let me know what they think (Plot, characters, whether the story works, grammar, whatever you're good at) and to be able to do that really quickly because eep, my deadline is already practically here.

Wordsmith for Hire

[personal profile] ysabetwordsmith 2012-07-14 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
I always need people to buy my writing or editing work. We haven't had a dayjob in our household for over 4 years, and just for extra funn, the car decided to flatten a tire today.

My Serial Poetry page has lots of stuff for sale in popular series, mostly science fiction or fantasy.

I do a Poetry Fishbowl once a month where people give me ideas, and I write poems based on whatever I get. You get to see a free copy, and if you want it published then you can sponsor it. Next up is August 7 with a theme of "Modern Myths." Most poems are in the $5-$20 range; epics are usually $.50/line.

I also write custom poems, for things like weddings or other special occasions, at a higher price. Pretty much anything you want.

Over on Torn World, I have a bunch of science fantasy fiction if you prefer stories, and more poetry. The stuff marked "supporters only" can be sponsored for public viewing.

I do freelance editing.

Also I do proofreading for Plunge Magazine. So another thing that would be helpful to me is more people submitting speculative fiction about queer women. Current theme is "queer women in mythology."

I need people to help edit a nearly-68k Big Bang. No knowledge of the canon (The Departed) is needed, but I need a hard edit for everything else. It's so long that I'll take anyone I can get. It has to be posted in August.

I need some work as an editor. I wouldn't charge a lot, a few bucks for every 10k or so, but any bit of extra money helps.

Sweetie Pop, I once did a 50K edit in two days. There was no coffee left in the state afterwards, but I had no regrets.

EMAIL ME THAT THING NOW. And let me know how you want the edits formatted before I start (last person I did that for was all- what's with the brackets?).

I want/need the same thing as [personal profile] clare_dragonfly, for people to read my stories and hopefully comment so they don't float around meaninglessly. (Most of the pieces I have up are flash fiction and I look forward to the time when I can revamp my ebooklets for the longer pieces, so people don't have to read those online/be restricted to their online time to read them. ^-^)

I need tips and ideas on how to work from home effectively. I have a pretty good system to keep me focused once I'm busy, but I have nothing to help get me started. :/

Encouragement to read the magazines I'm considering submitting to and to polish up the pieces I want to submit would be most welcome too. (I'll cross the bridge of Actually Submitting Stuff afterwards.)

I'm thinking of writing a story to submit for publication: a retelling of the Tam Lin ballad. As this is my first time, I could really use some advice on that front (magazines, how to format submissions, etc.). I've been thinking of becoming a writer, but due to my upbringing, it's something I've never decided to give a shot until now (when the 'real job' doesn't seem to be working out for the time being).

I'd also welcome cheerleading, too.

Most of the things I need I don't think I can find here. I need to find a path for myself, I need to be financially stable, I need to travel (because that is when I am happiest) . I need to be able to write again and have people to share my stories with.

But mostly I need love. I need to be loved more. Unconditionally for who I am, despite my flaws. Despite my depression and inability to function half of the time, despite the fact that I don't fit in to most circles, and...just everything. I need love by people that won't leave. No matter how hard it might be to love me. I don't know.

I'm looking for beta readers for flash fiction and maybe the occasional short story, to tell me if a story falls flat or makes sense only in my head, or make suggestions for smaller improvements, before I post the stories publicly.

Most of what I write is fantasy or other speculative fiction, with the occasional slice of life thrown in. Most public posts in my journal are examples.

I'd be happy to reciprocate.

Yet another writer here who needs the reassurance that I'm not off in the weeds of my own weird brain somewhere; it's not as if [community profile] hiraeth will let me NOT write it, but feedback from other brains is more helpful for telling whether I'm making a damn bit of sense with this unruly plotless slice-of-vampire-life thing...
